Inaugurated in 2012 by Aéroports de Montréal , Jacques-de-Lesseps Park is the perfect place to watch planes in motion on runway 24L (24 left) at the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport. Born in Paris in 1883, Jacques de Lesseps was an aviation pioneer who surpassed many records during his life. On July 2, 1910, he was the first aviator to fly over the city of Montreal and repeated the feat over Toronto 11 days later. On the evening of October 18, 1927, his plane crashed into the St. Lawrence River, when visibility was limited by thick fog. His body was found a few days later on the shores of Newfoundland
